Evacuations are underway and time is running out for Floridians to prepare for Tropical Storm Helene, which threatens to hit as the strongest storm to make landfall in the United States in over a year.

One county warned that the storm, which is expected to hit western Florida, "will be unlike anything we have experienced to date."

Tropical Storm Helene continues to organize over the northwestern Caribbean Sea, according to the National Hurricane Center.
