The clockwise carriageway of the M25 between Junction 5 in Kent and Junction 6 in Surrey is likely to remain closed for the rest of Monday.

The M25 is facing severe delays this morning after a Tesco lorry burst into flames in the middle of the motorway. The incident took place between Clacket Lane and Junction 6 at around 10pm on Sunday. Video footage shows the Tesco lorry completely engulfed in flames, as huge pillars of smoke rise into the air from the burning vehicle.

Dashcam footage showed fire engulfing the lorry and a plume of smoke rising into the sky on Sunday night. In an update at 20:00 BST on Monday, National Highways said the remains of the lorry had been cleared and resurfacing work could begin on the most affected part of the carriageway - which was expected to be completed by Tuesday morning.
