Data going back to 1950 show that the first five trading days of the year on the S&P 500 can sometimes be indicative of the index's performance for the full year, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, gained 350.31 points or 0.45% to 78,315.30. The Nifty 50 index added 123.65 points or 0.52% to 23,739.70.
Over the past decade, the market capitalization for the Magnificent Seven has grown close to 800 percent. The rest of the S&P 500 has seen its market cap increase by about 150 percent.
