Outer Banks Boil Company owner Matt Khouri was on a trip to Costa Rica when Hurricane Helene ravaged parts of western North Carolina. He made his way home to help.

"Outer Banks" stars Chase Stokes and Drew Starkey say North Carolina has a special place in their hearts, and they are looking for ways to help those communities devastated by Hurricane Helene.

We sat down with the show's production designer Daniel Novotny to chat about where the Outer Banks was filmed, creating the fictional town of Kildare Island by piecing together places throughout the Carolinas, what it was like shooting in North Carolina for the first time, and swimming off JJ's dock.
