President Joe Biden has laid a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery to mark Veterans Day. Thousands marched through the streets of New York on Monday to honor Americans who served in the U.S. military.

Veterans Day is the last entry fee-free day this year. Also in California, veterans can enter 144 state parks for free on Monday.

Many servicemen and women are early risers, and Veterans Day got an early start at Battleship Memorial Park with the annual flag-raising ceremony. It’s a dreary day, but it’s an appropriate and traditional way to kick off Veterans Day around the Mobile Gulf Coast.
